Great Canadian Hymn Competition

The winning compositions of Pax Christi Chorale’s inaugural Great Canadian Hymn Competition were performed on Sunday, October 25, at the first concert of the 2009-2010 season, Fanfare of Canadian Hymns II.

First prize was awarded to Henry Boon of Windsor, ON for his composition “I Heard that God Was Power”, the text for which was written by his wife Susan BoonSecond prize was awarded to Judith Snowdon of Saint Joseph de Kent, NB, for her composition “Do You Not Know, Have You Not Heard?”.  Third prize was awarded to Scott Bastien, also of Windsor, ON, for his composition “God of All Nations”.  

Pax Christi Chorale is in the process of recording a CD and hymn booklet of a many of the compositions which were performed at this concert. The "Great Canadian Hymns" CD will be launched at the "Prayer for Peace" concert on April 17, 2011 at Grace Church on-the-Hill.



Choral Scholars Program

During the year leading up to our 20th anniversary season in 2006-2007, we established an ongoing scholarship program for young experienced singers who want an opportunity to sing with a community choir and/or are currently pursuing studies in music. Any exceptional young singers who may be interested in this program should contact Stephanie Martin at stephanie.martin@paxchristichorale.org.


The Children's Messiah

Pax Christi Chorale and the Gallery Choir of the Church of Saint Mary Magdalene present "The Children's Messiah", Saturday, December 11, 2010 from 4:00 to 5:00 pm in the historic Church of Saint Mary Magdalene, 477 Manning Avenue. Directions to the church can be found here. Designed especially for the younger crowd, we encourage you to bring children to hear highlights of Messiah in all its glory for the first time in this casual setting. Pay-what-you-can at the door.
