Pax Christi Chorale, under the artistic leadership of Dr. Elaine Choi, invites choristers who love to sing great music in a welcoming and diverse community to audition for the choir’s 2023/24 season.

Pax Christi Chorale performs a wide-ranging repertoire, from the great choral masterworks to newly commissioned works by Canadian composers. Our overarching aim is to experience the deep joys of choral singing, and to communicate that joy to our audience.

Performances in 2023/24 include Alzheimer’s Stories by US composer Robert Cohen, Children’s Messiah, and Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana with the North York Concert Orchestra at the Meridian Arts Centre.

Some choral experience, including a basic level of sight reading is required. The choir rehearses weekly on Monday nights from 7:30-9:45 pm at 230 St. Clair Avenue West (at Dunvegan Road). Additional rehearsals are held preceding each performance. Choristers pay an annual registration fee and must purchase their own concert attire.

To apply, complete and submit the online application form found HERE. We will contact you to set up an in-person audition. For your audition, you are asked to perform a selection (either accompanied or a cappella) that demonstrates your voice, its quality and range, to best advantage. You will also be asked to sing some vocal exercises to determine your placement within the choir and your level of sight-reading.

Pax Christi Chorale encompasses adult singers of all ages and diverse backgrounds. We aim to ensure positive and respectful relationships that are demonstrated by welcome, friendship, and support among our members for everyone involved in our organization.
